What the ledger covers—and what it misses.

Explore the logged reports by theater and month, then check how sources, attribution and blank fields are handled. The newest logged event is dated .

The ledger logs incidents covered in our own reporting that we could tie to a named source. It is not an exhaustive count of every attack in these conflicts.

Logged reports by month and theater

These are ledger rows, not a count of attacks that occurred. A zero means no qualifying row was logged here for that month. Select a count to see the underlying reports. The first and last months may be partial. On a phone, scroll the table sideways to see every theater.

If a row is assigned to “Other theaters,” it appears in the total but not a theater column.

What is recorded

Reported attribution
311

A named actor in the cited reporting; this is not our independent finding.

Party claims
54

The attribution comes from a party’s own claim.

Unattributed
50

No actor was identified in the cited report.

Distinct source links
394

The URL attached to each row; one report can support more than one row.

Casualty fields

A killed figure is entered on 128 of 415 rows; an injured figure on 58. A blank means no figure was recorded in that ledger field. It does not mean zero. Published totals may later change.

Vessel names

20 of 93 commercial-vessel rows name a ship. An unnamed vessel is still included when the reported event meets the ledger’s source and place rules. Browse vessel incidents →

Source trail

Each row points to an outlet report or official statement and to our reporting. The build checks that the source URL appears in at least one article linked to the row. That check establishes a traceable citation; it does not independently verify the event.

The table uses the source and casualty details available when a row is entered. Multiple outlets may cover the same incident; the ledger aims to keep one event row rather than treating each story as a separate attack. See the full inclusion method and corrections policy.
