Israeli airstrikes killed four Palestinians and wounded several others, including a girl, in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to Middle East Monitor, which cited Anadolu Agency reporting from medical sources inside the enclave.

The strikes come roughly a year into the October 2025 ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and add to a casualty count that Gaza’s Health Ministry says has continued to climb despite the truce.

What happened

A strike on a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City killed at least one of the four victims, per the medical sources cited by Anadolu. Two more strikes were reported on Al-Jiya Street in al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, and gunfire was reported in the Jabalia refugee camp. Additional incidents were reported in the Tuffah neighborhood of northeast Gaza City, as well as in Deir al-Balah and the Bureij refugee camp.

Medical sources identified three of the dead as Reem Asaad Awad, 33; Saddam Ikrami al-Za’anin, 23; and Mohammed Fawzi al-Jumla, 32. The reporting, sourced to staff at Al-Shifa Hospital and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, did not name the fourth victim.

Israel’s military did not immediately comment on the specific strikes, and Middle East Monitor’s report did not include an Israeli response to the incidents.

The ceasefire’s fraying math

The October 2025 ceasefire was framed at the time as an end to major hostilities in Gaza. A year on, Gaza’s Health Ministry puts the toll of ceasefire-period violations at no fewer than 1,498 Palestinian deaths and 5,306 injuries — a tally that keeps rising with incidents like Wednesday’s.

Zoomed out further, the ministry’s cumulative figures since October 2023 stand at more than 74,000 Palestinians killed and over 175,000 injured, with roughly 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure damaged or destroyed, according to the same Middle East Monitor report. Those numbers have not been independently verified by outside agencies, and this report does not attempt to adjudicate them — they are presented as the Health Ministry’s own accounting, which is the standard sourcing available for Gaza casualty data.

Why it matters

The ceasefire has never meant zero violence, and strikes like Wednesday’s are a recurring feature of the post-October 2025 arrangement rather than a departure from it. What makes the pattern consequential is cumulative: each incident adds to a ministry death toll that, if the current pace holds, keeps the agreement looking less like a durable peace and more like a lower-intensity continuation of the conflict it was meant to end.

That dynamic sits inside a wider regional picture America Strikes has been tracking this week, including Houthi strikes on Saudi Aramco’s headquarters and Houthi attacks on Saudi cities following coalition strikes on Sanaa’s oil depots, as well as IRGC Navy threats against U.S. warships in the Strait of Hormuz. None of those fronts are directly tied to the Gaza ceasefire, but together they describe a Middle East where multiple parallel flashpoints are active at once, any one of which could pull outside powers deeper in.

What to watch

Whether the pace of ceasefire-period incidents accelerates or plateaus will shape how mediators — chiefly Egypt, Qatar, and the United States — approach enforcement mechanisms in the weeks ahead. A sustained rise in the Health Ministry’s violation count would put pressure on all three to clarify what, if anything, triggers consequences under the current terms.

This is a developing story. America Strikes will update as Israeli military statements, additional casualty confirmations, or ceasefire-mechanism details become available.
