Iran Strikes US Bases in Seven Countries Overnight, IRGC Claims
Iran's IRGC claimed missile and drone strikes on US military targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Qatar overnight, expanding retaliation across the region.
Developing story — this page will be updated as information becomes available.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched missile and drone strikes overnight on US military targets in seven countries — Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Qatar — dramatically widening its retaliation for a sixth night of American strikes on Iranian soil, Al Jazeera reported, citing IRGC statements carried by Iran’s Tasnim news agency and confirmations from affected governments.
What we know
The IRGC said it targeted “US helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft” at Bahrain’s Sakhir airbase, a US air control radar in Oman’s northern Ghanim region and a maritime surveillance radar on rocks in the Strait of Hormuz, and a “US military base” in Kuwait — claiming hits on a missile defence radar, weapons depots and two HIMARS surface-to-surface launchers. In Syria, the IRGC claimed to have “attacked a US special operations command centre” at the al-Tanf military base, according to Al Jazeera.
Kurdish forces shot down eight explosive drones over Erbil in northern Iraq, and Jordanian air defence intercepted three Iranian missiles, per the same report. Qatari authorities reported minor injuries to a child hit by falling shrapnel; no fatalities have been confirmed in Iraq or Jordan. Damage assessments at named US facilities have not been independently verified.
The overnight barrage came after US Central Command completed a sixth consecutive night of strikes on Iran, Reuters reported. Reuters separately said Iran launched fresh attacks after that sixth day of American strikes.
What we don’t know
The Pentagon and CENTCOM have not confirmed damage or casualties at any of the named US facilities, and the IRGC’s specific target claims — including the HIMARS hits in Kuwait and the al-Tanf command centre strike — have not been independently verified. Full weapon counts, intercept rates and any US or contractor casualties remain unclear. This story is developing.
Context
The overnight retaliation is the broadest single-night Iranian action of the current cycle, layering fresh strikes on Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Qatar on top of earlier attacks this week. Hours before the barrage, US warplanes hit five bridges and a port tower in southern Iran and Marines boarded the tanker M/T Wen Yao in the Gulf of Oman, according to our earlier report.
Iran’s pattern of hitting US-linked sites in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan has been building since Wednesday’s IRGC strikes on the same three countries, which drew confirmation of damage from Kuwait’s defence ministry.
What to watch
- Whether the Pentagon or CENTCOM confirms hits, casualties or damage at any of the named US facilities in the coming hours.
- Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman diplomatic responses — public statements or emergency GCC consultations would signal how far host governments are willing to be dragged in.
- Whether Iran’s targeting of Syria’s al-Tanf and Jordanian airspace pulls additional US assets or coalition partners into direct exchanges.
